Bears maul with major injuries and some deaths. One vivid description of past poisoning executions where people spasmed so much they broke their backs. A boy prisoner is poisoned, and there's plenty of talk of other victims: past queens, assassinations, even animals. One sister is supposed to have the gift of poisoning and is trained to withstand poisonings she often becomes very sick because of the training. I felt like I wasted my time reading this when I could have been enjoying something else.The three main characters are charged with killing each other to gain power. This had so much potential and it fell short.

Then all this focus on this random character in the book and you're like, 'Wait I thought I was reading about these three sisters?' I ended up finishing the series and was dissatisfied. It wasn't like I hated them but they were boring and had no depth. Personally, I didn't find any of the characters very likeable.

In fact, the series takes such a turn it's a bit ridiculous. Nothing you wanted explained was explained. All the questions you have throughout the story are never answered. It was so interesting! Then I read the second, then the third, and I waited to see if it was going to get better or even make sense. I expected a lot from it and the first book delivered on bringing us into the world and it's customs. I was extremely disappointed with this series. So much girl power and an intense storyline. This world that she created was phenomenal and interesting.
